Growlers End 2-Game Skid

The Newfoundland Growlers improved their record to 4-3-0-0 with a win over the Maine Mariners by a score 5-2 on Saturday night. With the win, the Growlers ended their 2-game losing streak.

Scoring started when the Growlers Aaron Luchuk banged home a loose puck, tucking it past the Mariners goalie Conner LaCouvee midway through the first period. The Mariners responded last in the period when Terrence Wallin scored, evening the tally at 1-1 after the first period.

The Growlers scored in the second period when Colt Conrad scored on the powerplay. Joseph Duszak of the Growlers picked up his first ECHL goal in the period as well.

The third period saw the Mariners draw within 1 goal as Wallin scored his second for the Mariners. Growlers made it 4-2 when Evan Neugold scored on a blast from the blueline & Riley Woods scored an empty net goal to make it 5-2 Newfoundland Growlers.

The Newfoundland Growlers continue their five-game road trip beginning Thursday night against the Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. Puck drop is 8:30 p.m. Newfoundland time.
